基于Flutter 1.5,从源码视角来深入剖析flutter引擎的启动流程,相关源码目录见文末附录

一、Flutter引擎启动工作

1.1 Flutter启动概览

Flutter作为一款跨平台的框架,可以运行在Android、iOS等平台,Android为例讲解如何从Android应用启动流程中衔接到Flutter框架,如何启动Flutter引擎的启动流程。 熟悉Android的开发者,应该都了解APP启动过程,会执行Application和Activity的初始化,并调用它们的onCreate()方法。那么FlutterApplication和FlutterActivity的onCreate()方法是连接Native和Flutter的枢纽。

  • FlutterApplication.java的onCreate过程:初始化配置文件/加载libflutter.so/注册JNI方法;
  • FlutterActivity.java的onCreate过程:创建FlutterView、Dart虚拟机、Engine、Isolate、taskRunner等对象,最终执行执行到Dart的main()方法,处理整个Dart业务代码。

1.2 引擎启动工作

1.2.1 FlutterApplication启动

图解:在AndrodManifest.xml定义的FlutterApplication,Android应用在启动时候会执行FlutterApplication.onCreate(),然后再执行FlutterMain.startInitialization()方法,其主要工作:

  1. 确保该方法必须运行在主线程,否则抛出异常;
  2. 初始化配置参数,vm_snapshot_data、vm_snapshot_instr、isolate_snapshot_data、isolate_snapshot_instr、flutter_assets的值
  3. 获取应用根目录下的所有assets资源路径,提取产物资源,加载到内存;
  4. 加载libflutter.so库,调用JNI_OnLoad();
    • Android进程自身会创建JavaVM,此处将当前进程的JavaVM实例保存在静态变量g_jvm,再将当前线程和JavaVM建立关联
    • 注册FlutterMain的JNI方法,nativeInit()和nativeRecordStartTimestamp()
    • 注册PlatformViewAndroid的一系列方法,完成Java和C++的一些方法互调;
    • 注册VSyncWaiter的nativeOnVsync()用于Java调用C++,asyncWaitForVsync()用于C++调用Java;
  5. 最终将FlutterApplication的启动耗时记录,通过engine_main_enter_ts变量;

1.2.2 FlutterActivity启动

图解:每一个FlutterActivity都会对应一个FlutterActivityDelegate代理类,FlutterActivity的工作全权委托给FlutterActivityDelegate类,包括onCreate(),onResume()等全部的生命周期回调方法。

  1. 确保该方法必须运行在主线程、sSettings完成初始化赋值、资源提前操作完成,否则不再往下执行;
  2. 创建FlutterMain(C++),将拼接所有参数都封装到settings结构体,并记录在FlutterMain的成员变量settings_;
  3. 创建FlutterView对象,并在该对象初始过程中创建FlutterNativeView,PlatformChannel,PlatformPlugin等大量对象;
  4. FlutterNativeView对象初始化过程中创建FlutterJNI,FlutterPluginRegistry等对象;
  5. 在platform_view_android_jni.cc的AttachJNI过程会初始化AndroidShellHolder对象,这边进入引擎层的初始化过程[见小节1.2.3];

在Flutter引擎启动也初始化完成后,执行FlutterActivityDelegate.runBundle()加载Dart代码,其中entrypoint和libraryPath分别代表主函数入口的函数名”main”和所对应库的路径, 经过层层调用后开始执行dart层的main()方法,执行runApp()的过程,这便开启执行整个Dart业务代码。

图解:在platform_view_android_jni.cc的AttachJNI过程会初始化AndroidShellHolder对象,该对象初始化过程的主要工作:

  1. 创建AndroidShellHolder对象,会初始化ThreadHost,并创建1.ui, 1.gpu, 1.io这3个线程。每个线程Thread初始化过程,都会创建相应的MessageLoop、TaskRunner对象,然后进入pollOnce轮询等待状态;
  2. 创建Shell对象,设置默认log只输出ERROR级别,除非在启动的时候带上参数verbose_logging,则会打印出INFO级别的日志;
  3. 当进程存在正在运行DartVM,则获取其强引用,复用该DartVM,否则新创建一个Dart虚拟机
  4. 在Shell::CreateShellOnPlatformThread()过程执行如下操作:
    • 主线程中创建PlatformViewAndroid对象,AndroidSurfaceGL、GPUSurfaceGL以及VsyncWaiterAndroid对象;
    • io线程中创建ShellIOManager对象,GrContext、SkiaUnrefQueue对象
    • gpu线程中创建Rasterizer对象,CompositorContext对象
    • ui线程中创建Engine、Animator对象,RuntimeController、Window对象,以及DartIsolate、Isolate对象

可见,每一个FlutterActivity都有相对应的FlutterView、AndroidShellHolder、Shell、Engine、Animator、PlatformViewAndroid、RuntimeController、Window等对象。但每一个进进程DartVM独有一份;

1.3 相关参数

1.3.1 Intent参数

参数说明
trace-startup跟踪应用程序的生命周期,自动切换到无大小限制的trace buffer
start-paused启动应用后暂停在Dart调试器,等待调试链接
disable-service-auth-codes关闭跟VM服务通信需要认证的功能
use-test-fonts在各平台的文本布局和测量都不一致,启用该选项将字体分辨率默认为所有的Ahem测试字体
enable-dart-profiling开启Dart profile,结果可通过observatory查看
enable-software-rendering开启Skia的软件渲染方式,用于在模拟器上测试Flutter。默认情况是采用OpenGL或Vulkan
skia-deterministic-rendering跳过SkGraphics::Init()的调用,从而避免某些Skia函数被swap out,保证Skia渲染的100%确定性行为
trace-skia跟踪skia调用,用于调试GPU。默认关闭,以减少跟踪事件数量
trace-systrace采用系统tracer,替代timeline,目前仅支持Android和Fuchsia
dump-skp-on-shader-compilation自动转储触发新着色器编译的skp,默认关闭
verbose-logging默认仅打开error级别的日志,此标志能开启所有严重级别日志

接下来,从源码角度解读Application.onCreate()和Activity.onCreate()的核心工作。

二、FlutterApplication启动流程

在AndrodManifest.xml定义的FlutterApplication,Android应用在启动时候会执行其onCreate()方法,

该方法的主要工作是:

  • 初始化配置,获取是否预编译模式,初始化并提取资源文件;
  • 加载libflutter.so库;
  • 记录启动时间戳;

资源初始化主要包括对资源文件的清理、更新以及提前操作,这个过程都是在异步线程执行完成。

2.6 System.loadLibrary

不论是System.loadLibrary(),还是System.load()最终都会调用到该加载库中的JNI_OnLoad()方法,该过程原理见loadLibrary动态库加载过程分析

在加载libflutter.so的过程,经过层层调用后会执行JNI_OnLoad()方法,该方法的主要功能:

  • 初始化Java虚拟机;
  • 注册FlutterMain;
  • 注册PlatformView;
  • 注册VSyncWaiter;

Android进程在由zygote fork过程中已创建了JavaVM,每一个进程对应一个JavaVM。在这里只是将当前进程的JavaVM实例保存在静态变量,再将当前线程和JavaVM建立关联,获取JNIEnv实例,每个线程对应一个JNIEnv实例。

该方法的主要工作:通过RegisterNatives()注册一些类的Native方法,用于Java调用C++的过程;通过GetMethodID()等方法记录了一些Java方法的jmethodID,用于C++调用Java的过程。将以上方法以及RegisterApi的内容全部展开,完成如下注册:

  • 完成注册以下类中的所有Native方法,用于Java调用C++:
    • FlutterCallbackInformation (1个native方法)
    • FlutterJNI (nativeSurfaceCreated等21个native方法)
  • 完成记录以下类中的相关Java方法,用于于C++调用Java:
    • FlutterCallbackInformation (1个方法)
    • SurfaceTexture (5个方法)
    • FlutterJNI (handlePlatformMessage等6个方法)

2.6.4 VsyncWaiterAndroid::Register

该注册过程主要工作:

  • 将Java层的VsyncWaiter类的nativeOnVsync()方法,映射到C++层的OnNativeVsync()方法,用于该方法的Java调用C++的过程;
  • 将Java层的VsyncWaiter类的asyncWaitForVsync()方法,保存到C++层的g_async_wait_for_vsync_method_变量,用于该方法C++调用Java的过程。

2.7 nativeRecordStartTimestamp

nativeRecordStartTimestamp这是一个native方法,经过JNI调用会执行nativeRecordStartTimestamp()方法,记录引擎启动耗时时长。

三、FlutterActivity启动流程

3.1 FlutterActivity.onCreate

另外,关于pthread_key_create(pthread_key_t key, void (*destructor)(void)),用于创建线程内私有的全局变量,其中第一个参数为key,第二参数为析构函数,等线程退出时会执行。

该方法的startMainIsolateFunction等于_startIsolate,userMainFunction等于main.dart文件中的main()方法,也就是整个Dart业务代码。
